Kyle Keyser, who formed Atlantans Together Against Crime because of his frustration over Henderson’s death, said the news of the arrest was bittersweet.
“John Henderson’s murder was a big part of the tipping point that brought Atlantans together against crime,” Keyser said. “It’s been a busy four months since then. I’m curious to see what the police have to say. It’s a bittersweet moment for me because you don’t want to celebrate the arrest of someone but, at the end of the day, it’s nice to know our efforts … increased the reward.”
A friend notified him Friday morning via text message and Keyser immediately posted news of the arrest on the group’s Web site, atlantanstogether.org.
“I will be twittering and blogging from the news conference,” he said.
City-Wide Dine Out Raises Crime Stoppers Reward To Highest Ever, $45,000
“As of 2/4/2009, the reward pool for the John Henderson Reward Fund is $45,000.”
The John Henderson reward fund is now at a record total of $45,000, the largest reward in Crime Stoppers Atlanta (CSA) history! In addition, the organizers generously donated a portion of the proceeds to the overall CSA reward fund. These monies will be specifically used to solve other Crime Stoppers cases and to remove as many criminals from our streets as possible. Examples of success stories include: the murder of a nine year old girl, the murder of high school football star, the murder of the father of five young children, and many more. CSA has solved 98 cases over the past two years and is actively working on others. A special thanks to the organizers of the event for their interest in utilizing the funds to have as much impact as possible on crime in Atlanta. For questions on CSA you can check out the Atlanta Police Foundation FB page or our website at www.atlantapolicefoundation.org. Thank you all for everything you are doing to create a safer Atlanta!
